Della Gherardesca Family Unveils Innovative Tuscan Wines Celebrating Heritage and Modernity

A FRESH TAKE ON TUSCAN WINES BY THE DELLA GHERARDESCA FAMILY

The renowned Della Gherardesca family, known for their rich history, is embarking on a thrilling new venture in partnership with the Prosit Group, bringing forth an intriguing new selection of Tuscan wines.

This collaboration unites the innovative flair of the Prosit Group with the deep-rooted heritage of Gaddo della Gherardesca, the thirty-third heir of this noble family.

Together, they aim to tell a revitalized story that celebrates their historic ties to Tuscany, a region that has been part of their legacy for centuries.

HIGHLIGHTING THE COLLECTION

At the forefront of this enticing lineup is the Gaddo Bolgheri Rosso.

A stone’s throw from the famed coastal vineyards of Bolgheri is the historic castle of the Della Gherardesca family, a monument to the region’s wine heritage.

Bolgheri is particularly celebrated for giving rise to the groundbreaking Super Tuscan movement, born from winemakers who dared to embrace unconventional grape varieties.

In this vibrant context, the newly released 2022 Gaddo Bolgheri Rosso emerges as a Bordeaux-style blend.

It artfully combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, a portion of which has been aged in previously used French oak barrels.

The result is a lush red wine that displays bold fruit flavors, peppery undertones, and a refined palate balanced with sturdy tannins.

REACHING ACROSS TUSCANY

Although Bolgheri serves as the collection’s base, its reach extends broadly throughout Tuscany.

The charming hills of Cerreto Guidi, located around 40 kilometers west of Florence, create an idyllic setting for crafting lively white wines and refreshing rosés. The 2023 vintage of Vermentino, branded as Le Vedute, offers bright citrus and stone fruit notes, harmonized with a savory finish.

The same vineyards also produce Sibilla, a graceful rosé made from Syrah and Sangiovese grapes.

This delicate pale pink wine delivers a refreshing sip, marked by its crispness and floral aromatics in the latest vintage.

Completing the offering is the esteemed Della Gherardesca Brunello di Montalcino.

Thanks to Prosit Group’s stewardship of the acclaimed Cantina di Montalcino, their expertise shines through.

The 2019 Brunello, crafted from the finest grapes sourced from top growers within the Cantina, captivates with its aromatic depth, silky mouthfeel, and lingering finish.

Through this collaboration, Gaddo della Gherardesca and the Prosit Group have skillfully fused time-honored Tuscan traditions with innovative practices and modern knowledge.

Their dedication to exploring diverse terroirs and wine styles has given rise to a collection that embodies vibrancy, elegance, and contemporary flair.

While the story of the Della Gherardesca family has roots deep in history, their winemaking journey is far from over.
