Marcelo Pino is set to join the prestigious panel of judges for the upcoming 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), bringing with him a rich tapestry of experience from the wine industry.

Originally from Chile, Marcelo has dedicated many years to the fascinating interplay of wine and culinary arts.

His outstanding contributions have earned him the title of Chile’s top sommelier not once, but twice, from 2011 to 2017.

In 2015, he made a name for himself by securing the position of the second-best sommelier in the Americas, and his remarkable skills propelled him to the twenty-fourth spot globally in 2016.

Expertise and Accomplishments

To further enhance his expertise, Marcelo achieved the Advanced Sommelier certification from the renowned Court of Master Sommeliers in London in 2019.

His journey began with an intensive six-month apprenticeship at Terravina in 2012, where he honed his skills alongside the esteemed Gerard Basset, preparing for high-stakes sommelier competitions.

Marcelo’s passion for wine extends beyond his accolades; he’s an active participant in blind tasting competitions across the globe.
