Divorce Settlement Details
After an extensive legal battle lasting eight years, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly reached a divorce settlement.
However, the ownership of their beloved vineyard estate, Château Miraval, remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Jolie’s attorney has confirmed that the agreement was finalized at the end of December, but details about the terms of the settlement have not been made public.
Ownership Disputes
The vineyard has become a focal point of dispute between the former partners.
Pitt and Jolie first acquired Château Miraval in 2011 after renting it for three years.
Their collaborative venture into winemaking began with the launch of Miraval rosé in 2013, developed with the Perrin family from Château de Beaucastel, which quickly sold out.
More than just a business investment, the estate is steeped in personal significance as it was the site of their wedding.
Since their separation announcement in 2016, the ownership of the vineyard has sparked ongoing tension.
A pivotal moment came in October 2021 when Jolie sold her 50% stake in the property to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group.
In response, Pitt has taken legal action to challenge this sale, further complicating the vineyard’s ownership status.
Business Ventures and Legacy
Despite these legal entanglements, the Miraval brand has been thriving, releasing wines that cater to the growing demand for rosés from Provence.
In fact, the 2023 vintage of Miraval Rosé received an impressive score of 89 points from wine expert Elizabeth Gabay MW.
Pitt has also invested in a recording studio on the Miraval estate, which has attracted a diverse range of artists, including iconic bands like AC/DC and Sting.
This blend of business and personal history makes Château Miraval a key element in their continued narrative, highlighting both its financial potential and its emotional legacy.
